Agape invites all adoptive families to attend our 3rd Annual Adoption Celebration, Saturday, November 5, at Vaughn Park Church of Christ in Montgomery. Families will have the joy of getting to know other parents and children who share the same fondness for adoption. We encourage you to invite extended family as well, because this is an event targeted at normalizing adoption for everyone in you and your child's close circle. We are excited to have a Registered Play Therapist, Carolyn Spencer, attending this year's Celebration. Families will benefit from Carolyn's experience with adoptive parents and their children. Anyone who has ever wondered what it was like to be a foster parent should consider attending  Agape's Foster Care Informational Dinner. This FREE event is designed to answer some of the questions and concerns that anyone considering becoming a foster parent might have. You will also have the opportunity to meet some of our current foster parents.  They are the ones with the stories that truly give insight into the lives of foster children! The dinner will be held Thursday, September 8, 2011 from 6 - 8 p.m. at the Riverchase Church of Christ located at 1868 Montgomery Highway, Birmingham, AL 35244.  Childcare will be provided for children up to 10 years old.  Register today. Wanna golf for a cause? How about to help find Christian homes for foster children and orphans? Wanna help a woman through a crisis pregnancy? Agape's 6th Annual Golf for Kids Tournament is more than just a great day of golfing. It's an opportunity to be a part of a ministry that serves neglected and abused children, families who want to share their love with a child, and pregnant women in need of assistance. Through adoption, foster care, and unplanned pregnancy services, Agape of Central Alabama cares for the vulnerable in our area...but we need your help to keep it up. Join us on on August 15, 2011 at Wynlakes Golf and Country Club in Montgomery for a day of golf, fellowship, and purpose! Register today. Agape's Run for a Mom 5k and Fun Run, Saturday, May 7, 7:30am, Vaughn Park Church of Christ Agape is having our first 5k on May 7. The theme is Run for a Mom, and we are asking each runner/walker to dedicate their run to a special woman in their life...mom, birth mom, foster mom, friend. Not only is May 7 Mother's Day weekend, it's also Birthmother's Day. So, we're hoping to honor the role of mom with this event.

All proceeds from the event will go towards helping prevent unplanned pregnancy in teenagers and assisting women facing a crisis pregnancy. What  a great way to celebrate Mother' s Day weekend and Birthmother's Day!

So, who are you running for? Is it the woman you call "mom" or is it another special lady you've always adored? Whoever it is, make sure to wear or carry something while you run to serve as a reminder of her.

2nd Annual Adoption Celebration
Nov. 6, 3:30- 6pm

Who is invited? Any adoptive family is welcome to attend. Grandparents, too!

What to expect for the kids? Fun and games for children of all ages. Some activities may include a wagon ride, horse-back riding and face painting.

What to expect for parents? Some time to connect with other adoptive parents in the community, as well as opportunities to learn from some adoptive parents with adult children, biracial adopted families, parents of teenage adopted children, and adoption specialists.

Agape Sunday
Agape Sunday is scheduled for August 29. This is our largest fundraiser of the year, therefore it means so much to our ministry. Please ask your church leaders to participate this year.
